Students beautify our historic downtown

Open Doors is our community’s Civic Star Awarded 21 st Century Community Learning Centers program! Highly acclaimed for creating successful and innovative After School and Summer Camp opportunities, Open Doors offers Franklin Central Supervisory Union’s middle school students exciting opportunities to lead and learn.

Programs offered by Open Doors aim to improve student self esteem, school-day attendance, and learning in students within grades 5-8. The project was initiated at the school level but was developed through the collaboration of many community organizations.

Open Doors is student driven, with the help of 8-10 students at each school, who serve as our project’s Student Advisory. Student advisors help design our programs and serve as leaders and program ambassadors in our schools and communities.

City School Program Coordinator

A Program Coordinator at each school, designs and coordinates the program at her site. Each of these leaders works closely with her school’s school-day staff and administration to design the appropriate program offerings for her site. Each Program Coordinator works to ensure the success of her school’s Open Doors program, as well as the success of the students in the program. A Summer Camp Director coordinates all the Open Doors summer programs for the district.

Our Advisory Board consists of volunteer representatives from the schools and the community. The board advises our program on strategies to address a cademic achievement, operations, programming, public relations, sustainability, and parent involvement.

The Open Doors Director works out of the office of the superintendent. She serves on the district’s administration team to ensure that Open Doors is in line with school visions and policies. She coordinates spending, supervises the Program Coordinators and Camp Director, processes programming data, writes reports to the state about Open Doors, designs and facilitates budgets, coordinates the Open Doors Advisory Board, administers sustainability strategies, coordinates public relations, and designs Open Doors summer programming.
