Welcome Back 2007!

Welcome back students and families! We hope your holidays were filled with many happy memories. Our Fall 2006 after school session of Open Doors was yet another success. We ran our programs on a smaller budget than we have had to experience in the past. We had to remove bussing from programming but our families managed to promptly and consistently pick up their children and we enjoyed many healthy walks to BFA for our cooking classes. Our staff, administration, and families were very supportive during some of our cutbacks and we are ready to face our new year with hopes and dreams of continued strength and success. Mrs. Bates Photography class collaborated with the St. Albans Historical Society to photograph “then and now” shots of our town. We will be framing and donating these to the museum shortly. Our Stamp it Up class hosted by Mrs. Butler made 250 holiday cards for Operation Happiness. The Eloquent Page bookstore owner visited our Chill Out Café class and shared antique books and historical elements of literacy with us. Mr. Flanagan’s Guitar Club produced a CD of their compiled works that each student took home courtesy of their instructor. Mrs. Burton-Kelly along with her assistant, Mrs. Church, quilted handmade bowls with the children to take home. They also created a beautiful wall hanging quilt that the children will donate to the Northwestern Medical Center’s children’s wing. Mrs. Parker’s mural class participated in the holiday window display contest on Main Street at the Park Café. They created a Victorian theme that was truly special. The children stayed in shape thanks to 5/6 Intramural sports class and Snyder’s Kicknastics classes. Thank you Mrs. DelaBruere from City school for her Tech Savvy work. Our 6 th Grade in Memoriam and 7/8 grade Mural classes were also lead by Mrs. Bates. Our school will soon be completely adorned in student murals. Mrs. Lambessis will receive one in her honor. She is missed and the children wanted that to be known.

Stay in touch. We will update you in a few weeks about our latest adventures!!
